This is a similar post to a previous one. I am planning to purchase a 1995 525i Touring. There aren’t that many around and the few available have a 90k to 130k mileage range and with automatic transmissions. I intend to keep it for as long as possible.
a) Should I be preparing to do some work (i.e., timing belt, transmission, ball assemblies, shocks, replacements, etc) or should I assume that if the car has a service history at a licensed BMW dealership that these things are taken care of?
b) My understanding is items like automatic transmission usually have an average service life of 150k.
c) Or should I be looking for a more recent Touring to purchase (finances are limited, however)?
Any advice would be much appreciated.
