2003 E39 525i m54 euro engine

Hi to all
I'm new in this forum and I'm from Ecuador
I bought a few days ago a 2003 E39 525i in a good price $ 5000
this car present a unbalance idle and a high oil consumption
Before I bought the car i know something about some problem with the engine sleeves and Nikasyl coat. The dealer here send me an estimate $ 10.000
The shoot is the following ...can install a m54 U.S.A. version engine in my euro version car ?

I do not think BMW was using Niksail in 2003. Only the M60 and the European M52 engines were affected. See this site: BMW world

Yeah the nikasil problem was already fixed by then...and if memory serves was only a problem with the E34. Swapping any engine from any E39 shouldnt be a problem..they are all essentially the same engine(other than displacement of course).
