Cracked distibutor cap source of Vacum leak?

My 1992 535 e34 M30 has a cracked distributor cap and is worn inside from the rotor. Real bad. Can this cause my misfiring and rough rough idle issue? I was also wondering if having a cracked cap could be a source for a vacum leak?

Check for arc loss on the outside of the cap and wires.
At night , lift the hood with the engine running. With a spray bottle, lightly mist some water on the cap and wires. If you are losing spark you will see lots of flickering blue sparks.
Not to much water you will kill the engine and have to dry the wires.
good luck

Thanks for the input guys! I was going to try the mist thing but the crack goes all the way across the top and you can see inside the rotor. The only reason I think the pins were sparking was cause it was screwed in. Anyway, I have a replacement on the way and hope this fixes my rough idle and miss firing on random pistons.
