OK I called around today looking for someone that uses Huper Optic Tint and 2 places told me that the company went Bankrupt. One place told me that the best tint for cars is 3M. Does anyone know how good 3M is? [rolleyes]

3M is a good tint, not necessarily comparable to Huper. 3M is a tinted tie film and Huper is a ceramic based tint. Huper will reject alot more heat than 3M.

What are you looking for in a tint? Heat rejection or the 'look' of it?

If you are just going for look 3M will be fine and you can get it dark. If you want the highest heat rejection Huper is the stuff.

To my knowledge the company did not go bankrupt. The people that told you that they went bankrupt, did they try sell you 3M or Llumar by chance????

Huper is hard to find. They won't distribute it to just anyone. If you want it keep looking, you will find it. Email the company via their webpage if you have to.

Bottom line, 3M is a good product to make your windows look dark, Huper is a great product to reject heat (Huper isn't a super dark tint).

Lowest Huper goes is 20% I believe. Hard to find it tho. 30% is what most places stock.

Huper's not bankrupt. I wouldn't go back to those places that told you that. If they're willing to lie, they prolly do a crappy job tinting as well since they can't let their work speak for itself.

I agree with WSUBeemer's description of Huper and 3M. I think there's a place in Fremont that does Huper, but I don't remember for sure. Might have been V-Kool.

Correct, I just spoke to them on the telephone less than a month ago!

yea, normally the "best stuff" is one that they carry and with a good margin!

like Jeremy said, it really depends on what you are going for. looks vs fuction. also was it Hupers that was bad for the rear windshield due to potential radio interference? can't remember right now..

No, that's V-Kool or other metallic based tints. That's why my car has Huper in the back and V-Kool in the front.

sorry, let me finish "there is only 3 installers in my area"

Still need to get mine done. the installer quoted $425 for 5 windows with the ceramic 40. will need to bite the bullet on this one by the end of the summer. Currently all my money is going into refinishing the basement to installing an inwall 90g reef tank.

My car is garaged. But when i do go out i try to park in the shade. That black interior sure gets hot. I love the feature where you turn and hold the key in the lock and roll down all the windows. When it does get hot boy you do get a strong new car smell. I guess it all those materials : leather, plastics, glue etc melting. hope interior doesnt fall apart like the story i read about in texas, ca in the hot belt.

What are the prices like for getting the windows tinted? I know it would clean up the look and make the car look a little more modern - but having a cooler car would be nice... I'd prob get the huper optic 40 all around.

5 windows for around $400 seems to be the average. $375-425 seems to be the range I've seen. The fewer installers in the area, the higher the price it seems.
