sudden volume increase intermittently

The stereo in my 2002 530i will occasionally suddenly increase volume for no apparent reason. I've had it into the dealer, but, of course, everything is fine when the car is there and they find nothing in their scans. Now the air conditioning will occasionally stop working. It works fine again after a few minutes, but this is starting to concern me. Any hints what I should look for? Thanks for your help!

Ok. Do you know about the Volume Enhancer Setting on the Radio itself. If the speed setting is at six then the volume will increase to overcome the road noise.

With my radio, sometimes when I just touch the volume it shoots up rapidly but that is an electrical fault of mine. Check the first thing I talked about and reduce it to level 3.

Thanks Bradley Win, I did not know there's such a setting in the stereo enhance settings, there's always some thing to learn in this car.
