I am out of town and parking my 1997 540i in an open air carport. Last night the anti-theft warning system went off every 45 minutes or so. Is there a way to lock the car but disable the alarm system so that I don't wake the neighborhood until I can get home and have the car repaired?
Well, You can push the "Lock" bottom twice to disable the motion and tilt sensores. If you do not do that, then even a ringing cell phone or a big bug in the car can trigger that alarm.
