i have 2000 540i that has ran great and out of blue while my wife was driving message came up and she was bearly able to get to a place to park it (very little acceleration no matter how much gas given). It now when trying to start will not even crank....same message with also trans.failsafe prog. Again it has never slipped or surged etc. in the past.
