Hey everyone, hows it goin, I am new to this forum but I have a hugh problem. I have a 1979 528i. It has been sitting around for about 5 years with no activities. Now, it won't start. I was wondering if any one could recommend a good mechanic in the bay area or any advice for the matter!!

Thank you

Which bay? Where I live, "the bay" means the Chesapeake. But I suppose you mean some other one.

Five years? Have you checked the battery? You really should take your BMW out to dinner at least once a month -- you know, to keep it interested. :)

I mean San Francisco or Berkeley area. I change the battery and it over turns but it will not start up. My bro gave it to me in this condition it was in a storage for 5 years. I am upset that it went under such harsh neglect.

The engine revs, lights turn on, everything works but no combustion takes place it just won't start. I think its the spark plugs
sounds like the spark plugs, not sure if they used it back on the model now, but BMW now uses platinum spark plugs so you only need new ones every 110,000 miles, if im not mistaken

yea, I am going to change the spark plugs and the wires this week end. This should help!
Thanks a lot guys. You think platinum tips will be valid for my model.
